Hello good members of the Oak Lawn Tennis Association:

I know you have all been anxiously awaiting your opportunity to cast your vote for this year’s shining stars within OLTA.

We have had quite a year almost bringing home the Texas Cup trophy , hosting the annual Texas Open and welcoming a lot of new members.

With your help, we will be honoring 5 outstanding members of our club at our holiday party in December.  The categories are listed below.  Please cast your vote by emailing presidetn@oltadallas.org.  Just so you know, we will keep your votes private.  And if you are so inclined, you may vote for yourself.

2011 OLTA Award Categories:

Newcomer of the Year
(this must be a member that joined our club for the first time in 2011)

Most Improved Player
(a member who has made marked improvements over the past few seasons)

Best Dressed Player
(for that member who has brought style and grace to the courts with their choice of attire)

Sportsmanship Award
(a member that has exemplified good sportsmanlike conduct on and off the courts)

Member of the Year
(a member that has gone above and beyond this year to make our club even better)

All votes must be received by Friday, Nov 25.

Due to the Texas Open Tournament, regularly scheduled play will not be held on Friday night or on Sunday morning.  If you are not playing in the tournament, please come and check out and cheer on your OLTA team mates.  You are also invited to our tournament welcome party at the Aloft hotel in Las Colinas from 7p-9p on Thursday evening.

Due to a tournament being held at Samuell Grand Tennis Center, we will not be having a Sunday session this weekend.  Enjoy your Labor Day Holiday!

Due to a tournament being held at LB Houston, please check-in at the pro shop when you arrive tonight to find out which courts we will be playing on.  We will still be playing the normal times of 6p-8p.

This year’s player welcome party will be held at the Aloft W XYZ bar on Thursday, Sept 29 from 7p-9p.

We will have happy hour prices all night, free appetizers and a special “tennis” drink.  This is a great chance for you to meet your fellow players and size up the competition.  Don’t drink too much though, our matches start early the next morning.  For those of you from out of town, the bar is in the lobby of our host hotel.

Our 2011 Texas Open XXXII player’s banquet will be held at the beautiful Las Colinas Country Club on Saturday night, Oct 1 at 6:30pm.  This exclusive location is just minutes away from LB Houston Tennis Facility and our host hotel the Aloft.

This year’s banquet will include a full plated meal, appetizers and a cash bar.  We will also have our annual raffle with numerous free tournament entries and great prizes.

You will also be able to purchase tickets for a significant other, or someone you met at the bar the night before.

OLTA Team Tennis – at Samuell Grand Tennis Center – 9am, August 14

 The pro tour has their Team Tennis, and so does OLTA. Jason Loughridge is heading up this fun annual event and he will be looking to put together some fun and competetive action on the courts. This will be a one day event, so please see Jason and let him know that you want to be a part of OLTA Team Tennis!

The Dallas Tennis Association is supporting the USTA’s Military Initiative. The DTA has joined the national USTA Adopt-A-Unit Program and has adopted 2 units – one deployed in Afghanistan – the other in Bahrain. Each unit is approximately 100 soldiers. We are sending care packages to both units 

 We are collecting: baby wipes, hand sanitizers, athletic socks, bags of candy (Jolly Ranchers, etc. – no chocolate), lip balm and disposable razors. 

OLTA Members can make donations at the LB Houston Tennis Center this week.

Due to a tournament at LB Houston, we will not be playing on our normal courts.  We have been moved to the blue courts on the other side of the clubhouse.  Court time from 6p-8p remains the same.

We will be having lunch following our morning OLTA session this Sunday, July 10 at:
